Animal Tracker registration for dogs.Animal Tracker registration for dogs

I am a Breeder who is microchipping my own litter. Can I register the animals straight to their new owners?

From April 2016 legislation regarding the microchipping of dogs states that the Breeder must be the first registered keeper.  A Breeder is defined as the owner of the bitch who has the pups, so regardless if this is an accidental litter, a one-off litter, you are a hobby Breeder or you are an accredited Breeder you will need to have this account type.

Youou will need to register the litter to yourself when they are microchipped.

When you sell an animal you will need to input the new keeper's details to generate a transfer code and give this code to the new keeper.  They will need to enter this code on the Animal Tracker website and open an account to accept the animal's record and become the new registered keeper.

Registering the litter to yourself first also means that your details will remain on the history of the microchip.  You can view records in your 'historical breeder records' section on your account page.  You can also opt for your details to be visible on the microchip so that if someone was to find the animal and couldn't reach the listed keeper then you could be contacted
